May 6 - Tell Me A STory

Here's what you are going to post on your Digital Portfolio:
1) Take a picture of your "Tell Me A Story" graph. Make sure it's only the graph and ordered pairs below it.
2) Save the picture on your desktop.
3) Make a new post and title it "TELL ME A STORY COORDINATE GRID"
4) Insert the picture of your graph into your post.
5) Next, type your story below the graph.  Check for proper writing mechanics (capitalization, punctuations, spelling)

Here is an example:

Picture
My dog only weighed 3 pounds when he was born, so I named him Rough because I thought he would have a rough go at life. Rough's first couple of years matched his name as he only managed to gain a pound during those first 2 years.  Rough did much better over the next few years so that by the time he was 5 years old he had doubled his weight from the 2 year mark.  The net year we spent a lot of time outside playing and running, so he managed to lose a pound.  The next year I made sure he ate healthier and Rough managed to gain back that pound he lost the year before.  Eight pounds was the most Rough ever weighed because during the 7th year of his life, he steadily lost weight and only weighed pounds when he died at age 10.

FEB 18TH - Force & Motion

2/17/2015

We have spent the last few days discussing two very important scientific words -- FORCE and MOTION.  It is time for you to show what you know about these words so far.  Here are some learning targets we've discussed so far:

  • Motion of an object can change by speeding up, slowing down or changing direction.
  • Forces cause changes of motion.
  • When you apply force on an object in same direction the speed of that object will increase. When you apply force in opposite direction, that object's speed will decrease.
  • The more mass an object has, the less effect a given object has on its motion. (You can watch this video about mass vs. weight).

Here's what you are going to post on your Digital Portfolio:
1) Choose ONE of the learning targets from above.
2) In your own words, explain what the learning target means.  Put this into "5th grade English."
3) Use your science journal and examples from our experiments in class.
4) A really cool picture/diagram might help too.  You can search for images/diagrams by clicking here.  DO NOT USE GOOGLE IMAGES PLEASE!!
